KOASTAL rents out mid-sized seaweed farms (1-2ha) and provides additional services such as equipment leasing, education, harvesting and marketing of the product as well as providing quality control and certification throughout the entire line of production. This allows small scale farmers to faster and more efficiently establish new and profitable farming units and large scale buyers to source adequate large volumes of quality controlled seaweed from a transparent, efficient and sustainable value chain. Successful integration of distributed small-scale production is an ongoing and important step towards sustainable, efficient and resilient large-scale production systems.
